Fabiane's Cafe & Pastry
A patisserie with a delightful ambiance, and delicious sandwiches, salads and baked goods.
Guide: Artist (Hope)
Location: Williamsburg
Strengths
- An ideal spot for a light breakfast, brunch, or lunch, with both indoor and outdoor seating.
- An extensive menu of salads, sandwiches, and baked goods, with reasonable prices and ample portions.
- Good people watching, and a groovy Williamsburg vibe, complete with indie music and the scent of pastries baking.
Shortcomings
- It can get pretty crowded, so you may have to wait for a table -- especially outside tables on nice days.
- Cash only.
Insider tips
- Don't miss the desserts! I especially like the raspberry chocolate mousse and the chocolate caramel cup (chocolate mousse with a hard chocolate cover and liquid caramel center).
- They have a slew of dessert drinks, but my fave is the granuccino: cappucino, ice cream and ice.
Anecdotes
- I sat outside last Friday afternoon, lingered over coffee and pastries with a friend, and just watched the locals come and go, picking out their treats. It was relaxing and entertaining -- the perfect respite for a day of shopping in the 'Burg.
Credentials
- Run by three chefs - Fabiane Lima, Carla Lopes and Alma Malabanan - all of whom trained at the French Culinary Institute.
