East Village – A Night Out
The East Village has been a haven for hippies, pop-artists, punk rockers and protesters. It’s not quite as rebellious these days, but it’s still comparatively young, edgy, and inexpensive. Here are a few ideas for a night out on the town:
Drink
- Angel's Share, An intimate Asian bar/lounge.
- PDT, An elegant speakeasy, accessed through a secret '40s phone booth.
- Death & Co, A sexy bar with innovative cocktails and a dark side.
- Decibel, A subterranean sake joint with a punk vibe.
Eat
- Jack's Oyster Bar, Sublime seafood in a serene setting.
- Jewel Bako, Superb sushi and service (ok enough with the alliteration).
- Soba-Ya, Delicious, authentic hot and cold Japanese noodle dishes.
- Mercat, Authentic Catalan tapas and great energy.
Do
- Planet Rose, A tiny karaoke bar with a bold ’80s aesthetic.
